Copper King Heucherella Brings the Color Orange to the Shade

'Copper King' is a new foamy bells, or Heucherella, noted for its vigorous growth and the beautiful orange tones that show on its leaves from spring through summer.

Botanical name: Heucherella ‘Copper King’

Exposure: Part shade to full shade

Flowers: Sprays of white flowers appear on red stems rising above the foliage in late spring to early summer.

Foliage: Maple-like in shape, the lobed leaves reach up to five inches wide. When new, the leaves show a bright orange color overall, with a darker center and yellowish edges. The foliage remains evergreen in mild-winter regions.

Habit: 'Copper King' foamy bells is a perennial that reaches to 12 inches tall and 20 inches wide, with a mounded shape.


Origin:
Heucherella plants come from crosses between two related genera, Heuchera (known as coral bells) and Tiarella (commonly called foamflowers). 'Copper King' is a heucherella introduced by Walters Gardens in 2023. 


How to grow it:
For the best growth and leaf color, site in part shade (morning sun preferred). Heucherella need average to rich soil with good drainage and moderate water. Trim away old or damaged foliage in late winter. USDA Zones 4–9.
