Penstemon 'Prairie Twilight'

Selected at the University of Nebraska by Dr. Dale Lindgren, its myriad of small tubular flowers put on a dazzling show, and its prairie heritage lets it shrug off tough winters. Blooms heavily from May through mid-July. Vigorous plants rise to 22 inches and spread to 26 inches. Full sun. Zones 4–9.

Achillea 'Peachy Seduction'

Produces large uniform clusters of glowing peach-colored flowers in mid-June through July. Its rich green, ferny foliage forms sturdy upright columns. This yarrow is disease resistant and tolerant of heat and humidity. Grows nearly 2 feet tall and wide its first year in the garden. Full sun. Zones 4–8.

Achillea 'Pineapple Mango'

This new addition to the Tutti Frutti yarrow series features a well-branched, vase-shaped habit and large multicolored flowers. Long blooming, from mid-June through July, it resists disease and tolerates heat and humidity. Grows to 2 feet tall and wide. Full sun. Zones 4–8.

Coreopsis 'Golden Dream'

A dwarf sport of ‘Crème Brulee’, this tickseed’s smaller size opens up new possibilities for compact spaces and container gardening. Its inch-wide blooms peak in June and July, with lighter flushes well into September. Upright clumps grow to 12 inches high by 20 inches wide the first year. Full sun. Hardiness is undetermined; treat as a tender perennial.

Kniphofia ‘Elvira’

A standout in the landscape, this variety of red hot poker is especially striking when planted in mass. Flowers summer into early autumn in full sun. Mature height is 30 inches with a width of 14 inches. This very hardy plant prefers to grow in good garden loam. Zones 5–9.
