Plant name:Magnolia stellata 'Jane Platt'

Virtues: Considered the best of pink flowering magnolias because it consistently holds color better and longer. It has won an award of merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1993.

Bloom color: Large light pink multipetalled blooms.

Goes great with: Corapolis copaflora and any small bulb plants such as crocus and scilla.

Season: Early spring bloom.

Where does it come from: This flower was first seen at Jane Kerr Platt's Garden in Portland, Oregon, where it was planted in the early 1940s.

Tips: Magnolia 'Jane Platt' needs good drainage, so when planting break up the soil and plant reasonably high. USDA hardiness zones 4-8.
