Common impatiens are America's favorite flower but are best in shady gardens - new Sunpatiens have been selected to be large and showy garden flowers in all-day sun and hot spots. Sunpatiens have shown amazing garden performance in all university trials and this past year in gardens around the United States.
Bloom color: There are six colors available - white, red, magenta, orange, the new lavender, and new spreading variegated salmon.
Leaf/Foliage: Dark green.
Goes great with: As a full sun plant they go with any sun annuals such as petunia, geranium, marigold, and vinca. We like them with free-flowering perennials as well such as daylily 'Stella D'Oro', Salvia 'Mystic Spires', or Echinacea 'Big Sky'.
Habit: Upright and vigorous except for the new 'Spreading Variegated Salmon', which is very bushy and will be great in baskets as well as in garden settings.
Season: Spring through fall.

Where does it come from: Bred by Sakata Seed America and available at Home Depot.
Tips: These are big showy plants that will reach 18 to 20 inches tall in the garden. Like all impatiens they like to be watered, and we find that they will flower best if a little underfed. About half-strength plant food is usually enough. USDA hardiness zones 9-11.
