Virtues: 'Black Flamingo' is an excellent flowering plant for the summer. It will dazzle you with abundant yellow and orange flowers that contrast nicely against its dark textured foliage.
Flower color: A yellow tubular flower with an orange calyx. As the flower ages and dies, the calyx remains and continues to add color to the show.
Leaf/Foliage: Dark green, heavily textured foliage with a contrasting purple underside.
Goes great with: 'Black Flamingo' is quite striking in a 12- to 16-inch patio pot. An under planting of Ipomoea 'Margarita' also really makes it pop.
Habit: Mounding
Season: Spring through summer.

Native to Central America and the Caribbean.
Tips: In the South, handle the plant like a Plumeria. Withhold water at the onset of cooler temperatures, allow the plant to go dormant, and then place it in your garage for the winter. When night temperatures are above 50 degrees Fahrenheit, bring it back outside, and begin to water. The plant will come out of its dormancy. In all climates, the plant can be moved indoors for the winter and enjoyed as a houseplant. Do this before the night temperatures drop to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. During the growing season, Chrysothemis do not like to be dry. Zone 10a.
