I wasn't crazy about keeping my kitchen scraps in a container on the counter in between trips to the compost bin. I started keeping them in a zip-top plastic storage bag in my freezer. They don't take up any room on my countertop anymore, and by freezing them first I have the added bonus that they break down more quickly when they go into the compost bin.—Kathleen G., Richmond, Va.
