You still have time to plant a fall crop of broccoli, which usually produces better results than a spring crop in Maryland. Start seeds now, if you haven’t already, before transplanting time (giving them 4-6 weeks).
Then, according to the Maryland Cooperative Extension: University of Maryland, “Transplant broccoli around August 5 in western Maryland, August 15 in central Maryland, and August 20 in southern Maryland and on the Eastern Shore.”
Be sure to provide proper watering once the crop is planted to beat the summer heat, especially as the heads are developing.
