Question: What is a forb?

Answer: A forb is an herbaceous plant that's not a grass or grass-like plant (sedges and rushes). An herbaceous plant is one that does not develop a woody stem and so dies back to the ground after one growing season. It may be annual or perennial.

Shown: Salvia guaranitica, an example of a forb.
