J’adore This Plant

Helictotrichon sempervirens was always my favorite grass until I met Leymus arenarius…I’m fickle like that

I bought a Leymus arenarius (Blue Dune Grass) last year thinking it was a Helictotrichon sempervirens (Blue Oat Grass); I swear they look the same in the pot. The next visit I made to my local connection, I mean nursery, my dealer asked how I was enjoying my li’l blue grass. I said it was just kind of languishing. She said hers was so rowdy it was about to bust up some pavement. I drove home as fast as I could and moved that puppy to a sunnier spot.

Now it’s running amok and I love it. It’s way more aggressive than Helictotrichon. But I can just dig it up, piss it off and stick it someplace else in less time than it takes for someone to whine about it being aggressive, so there!
