Are you sick of hearing about Twitter?

Me, too. But that’s not going to stop me

You’d have to be living under a rock not to know about Twitter at this point, which is okay; some of my closest friends live under rocks. I just want to tell you about a few super-cool, gardeny Twitter experiences I’m super-grateful for:

  • I’ve met an ass-ton of people on Twitter that I now consider friends, even though we’ve never met. But one Twitter friend, @SusanCohan, from the New York area knew she was going to be in Chicago so we organized a play date at the Chicago Botanic Garden, my favorite place on Earth—next to the Sanrio store on Michigan Avenue. I had an excellent day, Susan was awesome and I don’t think I scared her too much.I hope she visits again!
  • I got on Twitter one day and shrieked about needing some Comfrey to plant next to my compost bins, within minutes a Twitter friend offered to send me a big fat chunk of root. It has now been in my garden for a week and it has grown 18 feet. This is old-fashioned over-the-garden-gate sharing at its 2009 best. And I don’t just mean because I got something for free.
  • Out of the blue an amazing artist, @EmilyofTexas offered to make me a sign for my garden. It doesn’t get any better than that! It now hangs proudly on my garden gate. As a side note: it was wrapped in hot pink bubble wrap when it appeared at my door. I felt like it was my birthday! You can see more of her work here.

So, to sum up: Twitter friends if you’re in northwestern Indiana swing by and I’ll make you some lunch. Srsly.

In the meantime, I’ll be in the forum, and on Twitter, of course.
