Something has been eating my tomatoes, and over the weekend I saw the culprit. A woodchuck waddled over, reached up, bent a branch down and grabbed a tomato! How can I keep woodchucks out of my vegetable garden?

When I abandon my dog and my container garden to head for the beach, I thread bright pink surveyor’s tape through the pots that will need watering. The stuff is blinding and tacky-looking but perfect for making sure the pet sitter knows exactly where to aim the hose. No more notes about which plants are succulents that shouldn’t be watered and which are the elephant ears desperate for a daily drenching, and no more dead plants when I get home!
