Staking Hyacinths

hyacinthsHere’s how to stake hyacinths to enjoy their bloom for the longest period.

Hyacinths can be prone to flopping over, particularly if there’s a heavy rain or temperatures are warm. To prevent hyacinths from flopping, push a thin bamboo stake into the soil right next to the flowering stem. Insert it only a few inches so that you don’t pierce the bulb. Tie the stake to the stem just below the flower.
