Plant name: ‘Herbstonne’ rudbeckia

Botanical name: Rudbeckia ‘Herbstonne’, syn. Rudbeckia ‘Autumn Sun’

Virtues: Late-summer flowers. Size and number of flowers. Ease of care. Attractive to butterflies.

Flowers: Yellow daisy-like flowers appear in midsummer and continue until autumn. The yellow petals droop away from a bright green central cone. Flowers are about 4 inches wide. They attract butterflies.

Habit: Upright clump-forming herbaceous perennial, 4 to 7 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide.

Season: Summer into autumn

Cultivation: Likes full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Prefers moist soil but will tolerate some drought. Tolerates heat and humidity. Deadheading encourages longer bloom period. USDA Zones 5–9.
