Amsonia ‘Blue Ice’ (blue star)

Virtues: This compact version of Blue Star is a superb introduction for any spring garden. Blue Ice displays blue-violet, star-shaped blossoms and a thick mound of deer-resistant foliage that gives credence to its hybrid origin. Once established in a garden, Blue Ice is drought resistant and low-maintenance.

Flowers/Fruit: Blue-violet, star-shaped flowers.

Foliage: Vibrant green leaves that turn a bright hue of yellow in the fall.

Habit: Blue Ice grow 12-15″ tall.

Season: Blooms late spring to early summer.

Origin: North America

Cultivation:  Grow Blue Ice in full sun or partial shade in any reasonably fertile soil. Blue Ice are somewhat tolerate of dry soil. USDA Zones 5-9.
