Kathy Cropp is the third in a generation of gardeners. Her grandfather gardened out of necessity, and her father gardened purely for the love of it. When she and her husband moved the family to Virginia in 1987, she and her father began teaching her children about growing vegetables, roses and anything else green. As a result they are now four generations of gardeners! Together with her kids Kathy has created “Gardeners Four Generations” which is a website (GardenersFourGenerations.com) that shares information about two of the companies her children have started called Stoned Gardens and Various Cropps, valuable gardening resources, and information for the garden podcasts they do for Horticulture Magazine called “Garden How To” (Hortmag.com/category/horticulture-radio).
As a result of taking the Master Gardener training class, she and a fellow Master Gardener had the opportunity to do a radio program called “Here’s the Dirt” on a local radio station for almost four years. Kathy became the executive producer for the show. She has spoken locally, statewide and nationally. She is also a member of the Garden Writers Association.
She and her husband, Jim, live in the city of Danville. Besides being a plant-aholic gardener, she is an avid reader and a newbie at golf.
