New President for the Missouri Botanical Garden
The Missouri Botanical Garden, in St. Louis, has chosen Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson as the successor to Dr. Peter H. Raven, its president for the past 40 years. Jackson hails from Ireland and has been director of the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland since 2005. While there he stressed organic practices and environmental sustainability.

A daylily to rival ‘Stella d’Oro’
Garden Debut is introducing a daylily it claims will rival ‘Stella d’Oro’, the cultivar well liked for its compact habit, adaptability, tidy foliage and long rebloom. This fall Garden Debut will bring the cultivar Kokomo Sunset (‘KOK_06-02′) to market. It was bred by Dr. Ted Petit and it boasts neat rust-resistant foliage, early flowering with a prolonged rebloom and a compact size. Its flowers are gold with a red center. Read more at their site.

Womanswork introduces gloves for kids
Womanswork, maker of popular garden gloves for women and men, is adding children’s gloves to its line this spring. The cotton gloves, called Kidswork, come in two sizes (3 to 5 years and 6 to 9 years) and have a place on the cuff for the little gardeners to write their names. See more at Womanswork.com.

Win a Fiskars reel mower
Fiskars is introducing a reel mower this spring, called the Momentum. Well-respected for its scissors and its pruning equipment, Fiskars has worked to address common reel-mower complaints. They say the Momentum can cut dense grass and weeds, its blades remain sharp longer, it cuts evenly and offers several mowing-height options, and it’s comfortable and easy to push. They are running a sweepstakes to give away one Momentum. Click here to visit their site.
